Dear TFK...

Each week on timeforkids.com, we publish letters we receive from kids around the country. You can have a chance to get your letter published too. Just write to us and tell us what you think about the articles you read in the magazine this week. Make sure that your first name, last initial, age and state are all included.

We love hearing from TFK readers. Send your thoughts to emailbag@timeforkids.com.

A Plea for Pythons

Snake hunters are killing pythons in the Everglades, but the snakes didn't do anything wrong ["The Hunt for Pythons," 9/4]. It's the people who leave them in that environment that are wrong. Shouldn't the people who leave the snakes be punished instead? Why can't officials relocate the snakes to Southeast Asia-where they belong-instead of killing them?

California's Wildfires

This article opened my eyes as to how big forest fires can get in California and how fast they can move [" Fighting the Flames," 9/11]. I was amazed with how few possessions 12-year-old Abigail Carillo was able to bring with her to the evacuation center. The thing that impressed me was how Abigail kept a positive attitude even in the toughest of times.

Year-Round School: Yay or Nay?

I feel strongly about this topic ["Debate: Should Kids Go to School Year-Round?" 9/11]. Both of the kids' responses had very strong points, but I feel that the school year should be kept at 180 days. I love to learn, but I also love summer. If kids don't have enough time to relax, will it affect their stress levels and cause their grades to drop? I think so. I hope the government does not lengthen the school year.

My Cool Job: Public Defender

I think the right to have an attorney is fair ["I Am a Public Defender," 9/18]. But I wouldn't want to be a lawyer for someone who really is a criminal. It would be like thanking a bee for stinging you! It must be fun arguing in court, though it's probably hard because of all the limitations.

It's Raining... Cheeseburgers!

I loved your article on Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs ["A Tasty Tale," 9/18]. It reminded me of when I was in first grade and picked up that book. I got excited every time the big pancake fell on the school, even though I knew it was going to happen. I made my mom read the book to me over and over. I can't wait to see the movie!

A Floating Mess

I was mad after reading this article ["The Big Garbage Patch," 9/25]. There aren't enough people recycling in the world. If we don't stop littering and polluting, our world will not be clean and beautiful anymore. I am going to start doing my part. This is our only home and we have to protect it.
