OLYMPICTIONARY
The Triathlon is a brand new Olympic event. The race at the 2000 Summer Olympics will be the first ever.
The triathlon is a race made up of three different sports: swimming, bike riding and running. Only 50 athletes can participate in each race. Like a marathon, these 50 people begin at the same time. There is no break between events. Athletes need to swim in the sea, get of the water, quickly change their clothes, hop on their bikes and go. When they finish biking, they change again and begin running. The first athlete to finish the race wins.
Ones to Watch: Athletes from the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain all have great records in triathlon races.
