This small volcanic island lies in the Pacific Ocean some 2,360 miles west of Chile. The island has captured the world's curiosity for years. It is famous for its more than 600 giant stone statues, called moai. The moai are an average of 20 feet tall, all with similar human features. Their origin remains a mystery.
