A jaguar makes its home in the lush, green wilderness of Chiapas, one of 31 states in Mexico. The Maya, an ancient Indian civilization in Mexico, worshipped the jaguar, and Aztec Indians named a military order after it. Today the jaguar is one of about 250 threatened animal species in Mexico.
