Jason Kidd, a seven-time All-Star for the New Jersey Nets, has always tried to do his part to help kids. In 1999, he established the Jason Kidd Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing funds for children's medical research. He also started "Assists for Kidds", a program that encourages fans to pledge a donation to charity for each of his assists.
Between his time on the court at the NBA All-Star Game and his busy schedule off the court, Jason Kidd took a few minutes to talk with me. Here’s what he had to say:
TFK: What do you think your greatest moment in basketball has been in your career?
Kidd: My greatest moment was when I got drafted to the NBA. I was growing up always wanting to participate in it and to get that opportunity when I got drafted by Dallas. That was the greatest moment of my career.

Kidd: As a teenager and as a little kid I always dreamed of playing for the NBA but I never knew until I got drafted that I had the ability to play with the best basketball players in the world.
TFK: What do you do when you're not playing basketball? What are your hobbies?
Kidd: I try to play golf. I play basketball with my son and just hang out with my family.
TFK: Does it bother you that the NETS are moving to Brooklyn?
Kidd: Well I don't have any say…we're going to Brooklyn. It’s just a matter of when they build the stadium, but for the next couple years the Nets are staying in New Jersey.
TFK: Are you involved in any reading programs?
Kidd: I'm involved in the NBA Read to Achieve and we go to different schools and help elementary school students.
TFK: What's the last book you've read?
Kidd: The last book I read was Clifford the Big, Red Dog to my son last night. That's his favorite.
