I teach and they run away.
I listen and they come.
My strength is my silence.
This is the poetry of 10-year-old Akiane Kramarik, child artist. Akiane gets up at 5:00 each morning to work. But not just any work, Akiane has devoted most of her life to painting. Her paintings are as good as most adults. She has been on Oprah, ABC, CNN, and CBS. Most of her paintings sell for $25,000 to $50,000.

Some of her paintings are taller than she is! Her smaller versions, called ''geclees'' (zja clays), sell for $100 to $1,000. The most time she spent on one painting was 200 hours - the least was fifteen hours.
Akiane speaks three different languages, Russian, English and Lithuanian. Akiane is home schooled with her three brothers, Delfini, 14, Jean Lu, 11, and Ilia, who is three. She lives in Post Falls, Idaho. Her favorite hobbies are playing the piano, writing, reading, taking pictures, cooking, dancing, and, of course, painting! She also likes to clean. ''I am just a normal girl,'' says Akiane, ''And I just feel very blessed.''
When she becomes an adult, Akiane wants to be an artist, poet, photographer, video director, translator, teacher, travel agent, and guidance counselor.
