What do Miley Cyrus, Miranda Cosgrove and Zac Efron have in common? They all attended the 11th annual Teen Choice Awards, hosted by the Jonas Brothers, which took place on August 9th and was shown on TV on August 10th. Teenagers from 13-19 voted online for their favorite stars in categories such as Choice Comedy or Choice Female or Male Athlete. There were even some unusual categories such as Choice Web Star.

Who were some of the winners? The movie Twilight won nine awards. The Jonas Brothers won five awards, and TV's Hannah Montana won three awards. During the show, there were music performances by the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus and the Black-Eyed Peas.

Before the awards ceremony began, stars made their way down the green carpet (as opposed to the typical red carpet). The carpet is where reporters can interview the celebrities before the big night. Afterwards, reporters and photographers head into a special room to watch the show on a monitor and interview some of the winners.

The Stars Speak

Some people, like the web star Fred (Lucas Cruikshank), are walking the Green Carpet for the first time. Lucas said that he was very excited and a little nervous about being up against people like Will Ferrell and Ashton Kutcher. (Lucas did end up winning Choice Web Star.) Jennette McCurdy (who plays Sam from the TV show iCarly), shared her favorite past iCarly episode: "I liked the one where I got to play a twin. I got to play two different characters so I loved that."

Nathan Kress, who plays Freddie on iCarly, says that he got to fence on his favorite episode. "Neither Jerry nor I had ever learned how to fence, so they got a trainer to teach us the moves," Nathan said. And Miranda Cosgrove, who plays Carly in iCarly, says that her favorite episode will be aired on a future date, but is filled with all of the bloopers of the show.

There were many musicians at the Teen Choice Awards, too. What did they have to say? Emily Osment, of Hannah Montana, says that she is excited about her new single, "All the Way Up." The Honor Society has its first album titled "Fashionably Late" coming out September 15th. And have you ever wondered what music is on today's teen star iPods? Miranda Cosgrove's most played song is "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black-Eyed Peas. Emily Osment shares that her most played song is "Wand" by the Flaming Lips. Lucas Till says that his most played song is "Hand of Stone" by Mastodon.

The 2009 Teen Choice Awards were a huge success. So many voters participated to make it great. It was amazing to be there and it was neat to get some information on what is happening next for the talented teen entertainers.
