Meet... Ritu Upadhyay

Birthdate: June 11th

What was your favorite school subject?
Social Studies

When/how did you first know you wanted to write?
In fifth grade, I was the editor of my elementary school newspaper, The Nerge News. That was when I first discovered how much I liked reporting and writing.

What do you enjoy about your job?
Learning, learning, learning. Journalism allows you to discover new things and share them with the world.

How did you develop a nose for the news?
My family says I was always a nosy little kid. I hated being out of the loop.

How do you overcome writer's block?
When I just can't write anymore, I read about something totally different to get my mind off that subject.

What do you write best with or on?
Personality profiles--they give me a chance to get inside someone else's mind and learn about how they see the world. Those types of stories write themselves.

Who do you look up to?
There is no one person in particular. I find inspiration in day-to-day life.
