A Sad Good-bye
The nation said good-bye to former President Gerald R. Ford last week. Ford died on December 26, 2006. He was 93 years old.
Three past Presidents went to the funeral. It was held at the National Cathedral, in Washington, D.C. President George W. Bush spoke at the service. "In President Ford, the world saw the best of America," he said.
Ford was the 38th President. He is the only President who was elected neither President nor Vice President. He was chosen to be Vice President when the Vice President quit. Ten months later, he became President when President Richard M. Nixon stepped down.
