Dangerous Dean
Hurricane Dean slammed into Mexico last week. The monster storm packed a wallop. On Tuesday, its winds blew at speeds of more than 155 miles per hour.
The storm bent palm trees. It took down power lines. It swept roofs off houses. "The walls felt as if they were going to explode," says Catherine Morales. She lives in a town on Mexico's Yucatˇn Peninsula.
Before striking Mexico, Dean tore across the Caribbean Sea. Hurricanes weaken over land. After Dean hit Mexico, the winds died down.
