The Power of Music

The New York Philharmonic played a historic concert in Pyongyang, North Korea, on February 26. It was the first time a major cultural group from the U.S. had performed in North Korea. The two countries do not get along. The U.S. and other nations want North Korea to end its illegal program to create deadly weapons.

"Through our music, we will be able to express our friendly feelings to the North Korean people," said Lorin Maazel (right), music director of the New York Philharmonic. After the concert, people stood and clapped for five minutes.
