Help for Helpers
Volunteers, get ready to dig in! Last week, President Barack Obama signed a new law. It is a national service plan to help volunteers who serve the poor, improve education, assist veterans and more. Government money will help pay for such service projects.
"It creates opportunities to serve for students, seniors and everyone in between," said President Obama.
After the bill was signed, Obama and former President Bill Clinton volunteered with students. They planted a tree. A national service group that Clinton started during his presidency will triple in size under the new law.
