What's the Story? After they lose their home to a Christmas tree company, the Chipmunks, Alvin (Justin Long), Simon (Matthew Gray Gubler) and Theodore (Jesse McCartney), take refuge with out-of-work musician and songwriter Dave Seville (Jason Lee). In exchange for room and board, the furry trio must help Seville get his career back on track. Before he can scream, "ALVIN!" the mischievous Chipmunks turn Seville's house upside down. Amid the high jinks, they help Seville write "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)." The tune is an overnight sensation and the Chipmunks become pop icons. As they help Seville reconnect with his former girlfriend Claire (Cameron Richardson) and get his groove back in the music industry, the Chipmunks learn the meaning of family and friendship. The idea for creating the Chipmunk characters came to Ross Bagdasarian Sr. when he happened upon a chipmunk in Yosemite National Park. The critter stood in the road in front of Bagdasarian's car as if to challenge him to pass. Bagdasarian called that chipmunk Alvin, and the rest is history. |
