The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep
Rated PG (December 25)

What's the Story?
This fantasy film, based on a novel by author Dick King-Smith, puts a new spin on the origins of the famous Loch Ness Monster. In this retelling, Angus MacMorrow (Alex Etel) discovers a mysterious egg on a beach. When the lonely Scottish boy brings it home, the egg hatches a mythical water horse, and Angus is in for the adventure of a lifetime! Angus names his loveable new friend Crusoe, and secretly gives him a home in the bathtub. But the more Crusoe eats, the bigger he becomes. Eventually, Angus has to find the creature a new home in a nearby lake. There, Crusoe continues to grow and the local townspeople catch glimpses of the gigantic water horse. The legend of the Loch Ness Monster is born. Will the mystery be solved?

What would Alex Etel do if he stumbled upon a water horse egg? "I would definitely do what Angus does," the young actor told TFK. "But I don't think that I could keep it a secret. I wouldn't be able to resist telling everyone." For more of our interview with Alex, go to timeforkids.com/waterhorse.

Did You Know?
Because the water horse is a mythical creature, the filmmakers were able to design their own look for it. Six different animals are represented in Crusoe's face and body. Look closely, and you'll see that he has the eyes of an eagle and the snout of a horse, as well as the features of a giraffe, dog, seal and plesiosaur!
