What's the Story? Jack Black packs a giant punch as the voice of a clumsy panda named Po in Kung Fu Panda, in theaters June 6. Po's secret fantasy is to become a martial-arts master. The problem? His plump belly and big bottom stand in the way. That's why everyone—especially Po—is shocked when he's chosen to train alongside kung fu's greatest heroes, the Furious Five: Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, Viper and Crane. When the evil snow leopard Tai Lung threatens the Valley of Peace, Po is the only one who can save the day. But first, Master Shifu (voiced by Dustin Hoffman) must train the 260-pound pudgy panda to turn his weaknesses into strengths. So, what does bear-style fighting look like? "It's sort of soft and bouncy," Black told TFK. "And if Po sits on you, it's pretty much over." For more of TFK's interview with Black, click here. Did You Know? Actress Angelina Jolie voices the fierce Tigress. At first, she thought the tiger character was a boy, and she was sure that martial-arts superstar Jackie Chan would play the part (Chan actually voices Monkey). The actress was surprised and thrilled when producers told her that the role of Tigress was hers. |
