What's the Story? This action-packed 3D Journey follows scientist Trevor Anderson (Brendan Fraser) and his nephew Sean (Josh Hutcherson) on a voyage where few — if any — have gone before. While on an expedition in Iceland, Trevor, Sean and their mountain guide Hannah (Anita Briem) get trapped in a cave during a lightning storm. The only way out is to travel deeper into the Earth. There they discover a breathtaking world filled with extraordinary creatures, including glowing birds and a ferocious T. rex. When volcanic activity inside the Earth starts to heat things up, the trio must find a way home before it’s too late. Many of the special effects in the movie were added into the scenes after they were filmed. Fraser is no stranger to acting with things that aren’t really there. What’s his secret? "Just believe in it," Fraser told TFK. "I have an unusual ability, I’m told, to get [those types of scenes] right," he says. "Frankly, it’s behavior that used to get me sent to the principal’s office." Josh, who runs into dinosaur trouble in the movie, agrees. "Just put yourself in that real-life situation," he says. "If you were being chased by a giant T. rex, I think you’d be terrified." For more of TFK’s interview with Josh, click here. Did You Know? The movie is an updated spin on author Jules Verne’s classic novel. The original screenplay for the film wrote about the journey of a father and his son. But when Fraser signed on to the project, he suggested that the script be rewritten to feature an uncle and his nephew, as Verne’s book does. |
