What's the Story? Prepare to take flight with Disney/Pixar's newest 3-D animated adventure, Up! The movie tells the tale of Carl Fredricksen, a 78-year-old retired balloon salesman. The grouchy senior has dreamed of adventure since he was a young boy. But the timing has never been right . . . until now. Ready to fulfill his lifelong fantasy, Carl ties thousands of balloons to his house and floats away to the rugged jungles of Venezuela, in South America. Not everything goes according to plan, though. Soon after lifting off, a quiet knock on his front door reveals that a stowaway is on board. An overly cheerful young scout named Russell has accidentally climbed on for the ride. But there's no turning back for Carl now. Did You Know? At first, the filmmakers considered a desert island as the setting for Carl and Russell's excellent adventure. They changed the destination to Venezuela after visiting and climbing the country's majestic tabletop mountains.
