What's the basic story line? The Last Olympian is the fifth and final book about the heroic Percy Jackson. Percy's father is Poseidon, the god of the sea in Greek mythology, and his mother is human. This makes Percy a demigod, or half god, with amazing powers. The story takes place in Manhattan, days before Percy's 16th birthday. The basic plot is that the evil Kronos and his army of Titans are trying to exterminate the Olympians, or Greek gods. It is up to Percy and an army of young demigods to stop Kronos and his evil monsters.
Are the characters believable? The story is set in a fantasy world. The characters are gods, monsters, demigods and people. The characters are what make the story such a great read. Beckendorf, Annabeth, Chiron, Luke, Nico, Blackjack and Poseidon are among my favorite characters, due to their strength, powers and connection to Percy.
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being best), how would you rate this book?On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate this book a 10. The story plays out like a summer blockbuster packed with action from beginning to end. It is full of adventure, magic and mayhem. This book taught me about Greek mythology in an interesting way. It is a summer must-read, although in order to fully understand this book I recommend reading the other four books of this series. I would love to see The Last Olympian become a movie!
