What's the basic story line?George, an average kid, accidentally befriends a scientist, Eric, and his daughter, Annie. Together they travel through space via Eric's supercomputer, Cosmos. Eric's old colleague and friend tries to get rid of Eric and his computer. He fails, but Cosmos soon stops working, and their adventures seemingly come to an end. But when Eric, his wife and Annie move to Florida, George is invited on a dangerous, once-in-a-lifetime, secret mission using Cosmos to uncover the meaning of an "alien" message that Annie has received.
Are the characters believable? The characters are believable, and each has his or her own specific personality. However, what these characters do throughout the story is mostly not believable, such as opening a portal through a computer into the universe.
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being best), how would you rate this book?I would rate this book an 8. The plot is very exciting, but I found it a little hard to get into. I enjoyed how many real facts and events are woven into the story, like global warming, space shuttles, real planets and accurate facts about space. The book is educational. The authors insert several pages of scientific facts and photographs every 20 pages or so. They cover topics about the universe and space exploration that play a role in the plot.
