What's the basic story line?

Strawberry Hill is a about a 10-year-old girl named Allie living during the Great Depression. Her father finds work in a town three hours away. Her family moves to a street named Strawberry Hill. Allie is leaving behind her best friend, and she worries about making new friends. When she gets to her new home, she is disappointed because she imagined there would be strawberries growing everywhere on her street. But there aren't any. The story is about what kids go through when they start over in a new town. Something really amazing happens, but you will have to read it to find out!

Are the characters believable?

The characters are believable, however there are times when the characters sound like they are in our current day and not in the period of the Depression.

On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being best), how would you rate this book?

I rate this book an 8. The story is really good but it doesn't sound like they are going through the really hard times of the Depression. This is partly because of the modern way that the characters talk.
