What's the basic storyline?Return of the Homework Machine is the sequel to The Homework Machine. In the first book, Brenton builds a homework machine after he buys a computer chip from a shady guy named Milner. The machine does homework for Brenton and his friends. One day, Brenton attempts to destroy the machine by throwing it into the Grand Canyon. In Return of the Homework Machine, Brenton realizes that the most powerful part of the machine, the artificial intelligence superchip that lets you cheat on homework, was never really destroyed. And there is someone out there who wants to use the superchip for more than cheating on homework. Brenton and his friends work together to try to stop the culprit.
Are the characters believable? The characters seem like typical sixth graders who find themselves in the middle of chaos. The characters' reactions to the situation they find themselves in are believable.
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being best), how would you rate this book?On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give the book a 4 for the first half and an 8 for the second half. In the first half of the book, each kid is telling his part of the story. This makes the story difficult to follow. The second half of the book is much more interesting because the kids go on an exciting adventure to find the superchip and an Egyptian treasure.
