Read Mia's interview with Ann Brashares!

What's the basic storyline?
The book is about four teenage best friends: Lena, Carmen, Tibby and Bridget. It is their second summer apart, and they stay connected through a magical pair of second-hand jeans. The pants are magical because they fit all the girls perfectly, despite their different shapes and sizes. The girls send the pants to each other throughout the summer, and the pants enable them to stay close to each other while they are far apart.

Were the characters believable? What made them believable or unbelievable?
The characters are definitely believable. In some books, all the characters are perfect, and nobody is perfect in real life. In the book, all four girls each have a few flaws, and that makes them believable.

What makes this book a good summer read that you'd recommend to other kids?
This book is a great book for lying out in the sun in your backyard. One of the reasons is that the book takes place during the summer, so you can relate to what the girls are doing.

What's not-so-great about the book?
I pretty much liked everything about it! The girls have this unconditional, loving friendship, and that is the best part. The only not-so-great thing is that it’s about teenage girls. For me, that’s great. But for young readers out there, particularly boys, they might not necessarily go for this book because it’s not really geared towards them.

Does this book remind of you any other books or movies? How so?
The Second Summer of the Sisterhood doesn't really remind me of any other books or movies. It does seem familiar, but only in the sense that it kind of reminds me of my own life. The girls are really similar to people I might be friends with.

On a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being poor and 10 being best), how would you rate this book?
I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this book, so I would probably give it a 9. It would be a 10 if it was longer!
