Counting up delegates
Delegates needed to win the Democratic nomination: 2,025
OBAMA: 1,321 pledged; 199 superdelegates
CLINTON: 1,186 pledged; 238 superdelegates
How It WorksThe process for awarding delegates is complex. After state contests, some delegates are pledged to support a candidate. Superdelegates don't have to choose one until the convention. Some promise to support a candidate, but they can change their minds. These are CNN's estimates as of March 6.
