Spotlight on Service

When she was 7 years old, Jenna Gazzana figured out how to put her creativity to work for a good cause. That's when Jenna started Charity Helpers. Now she is 9 and in third grade at St. Boniface, in Germantown, Wisconsin. Her group sells drawings, handmade beaded jewelry and self-printed illustrated books to raise money for the school's food pantry. All of the money earned goes to the pantry, which helps feed about 100 needy families in the community every month.

Jenna has inspired her classmates to help too. "They either buy or make something for Charity Helpers," Jenna told TFK. One of her friends donated pictures of his Lego creations. Another drew a calendar for the cause.

So far, Charity Helpers has raised more than $1,300 for the pantry. Jenna plans to expand. "My dream would be to build an office for Charity Helpers," she says.
