Glimmers of Hope

Is the nation's economy on the road to recovery? On April 14, President Barack Obama gave a speech about the economy at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. "There is no doubt that times are still tough," he said. "But from where we stand, for the very first time, we are beginning to see glimmers of hope."

Obama outlined plans that are already in place to get the economy back on track. However, he warned that more sweeping changes will be necessary. "We must lay a new foundation," he said. The President spoke of more hard times ahead, saying that "2009 will continue to be a difficult year."
