Did You Know?
No atmosphere on the moon means no wind or weather. And that means no erosion, or-gradual destruction, of the footprints left by astronauts. Tracks made 40 years ago are still visible.
Astronauts collected some 840 pounds of rocks-during the 340 hours they spent-exploring the moon. They were allowed to keep a few rocks as-souvenirs. But they had to promise that the rocks would never be sold.
The first creatures to orbit the moon were two turtles in 1968. After their craft returned to Earth, the turtles were fine. They didn't have a scratch on them.
