He's The Birthday Bear!

Smokey Bear first warned, "Only you can prevent forest fires," in 1944. Since then, this mascot for wildfire prevention has helped save millions of acres of forestland. Smokey represents U.S. forestry organizations and the Ad Council. He will turn 60 on August 9. "We're hoping to have a party for Smokey," says Wendy Moniz, who manages advertising for Smokey Bear's Wildfire Prevention campaign.
