BIG PICTURE EDITION

Life Long Ago
Wampanoag means People of the Light. The Wampanoag lived in the eastern part of the country, so they were first to see the sun rise each day. For thousands of years, they have lived on land that is now called Massachusetts.

Women planted corn, beans and squash.

Men made canoes by burning out the center of big logs.

Homes were called wetus. They were covered with tree bark.
