TIME For Kids National Teacher Board

How do you use TIME For Kids to teach non-fiction reading skills and strategies?
In my experience it has been difficult to find nonfiction books that are both interesting and on-level for my first graders. Time For Kids has proven to be an excellent way to get my students excited about reading nonfiction because the photographs are engaging and the text simple and informative. I teach my students to use the photos to decode unknown words or to make predictions about what the story will tell us. I also work with my students to find the 5Ws (Who, What, When, Where and Why) in a story.
