Aussie Animals: Echidna

The echidna, or spiny anteater, is one tough customer! Its prickly spines warn predators to stay away, and it can live to be fifty years old. It scoops up ants with its long tongue, then crushes them against the roof of its mouth. The echidna and the platypus are the only two mammals in the world that lay eggs.
