Inferring Character Traits
Mini-Lesson: Grades 2-3
Objective: Students will make inferences as they read an interview.
1. Have students raise a hand if they have seen any of the Harry Potter movies. Explain that they will be reading a TFK interview with Bonnie Wright, the actress who plays the role of Ginny Weasley. Tell students that when reading an interview, it helps to ask yourself, "What do these answers tell me about this person?"
2. Pass out the timeforkids.com interview, TFK Chats with Bonnie Wright. Have students read the first question-and-answer pair. Ask: Based on this answer, how would you describe Bonnie Wright? (smart, energetic) As students read, have them jot down words they would use to describe Bonnie Wright based on her interview answers.
3. Have students share what they wrote. Ask: What questions would you ask Bonnie Wright if you were conducting the interview?
