Topic: Branches of Government

Activity: Learning the Branches of Government

  1. Ask students to describe the make up of our government. Write responses so all can see.

  2. Tell students that the U.S. government is made up of three branches, or groups: The Legislative, Executive, and the Judicial.

  3. Have students fill out the worksheet and discuss in a group.

  4. Split students into 3 groups to represent the Legislative, Executive and the Judicial bodies.

  5. Ask students to write a list of reasons their group is necessary for the progress of government.
  • Think: Why is it important to have three branches of government?
