Plan for Earth Day

1. Start a discussion about eco-friendly living. Ask: Why is it important to take care of the earth? What are some ways that kids can help protect the planet?

2. Pass out the timeforkids.com interview, Seeking a Greener World. As students read, have them find examples of what the Neils have done to help the earth. Point out that David and Deanna have been raising awareness about the environment since they were kids.

3. Tell students that on Tuesday, April 22, people around the world will celebrate Earth Day. Challenge students to come up with an Earth Day activity. For example, they may choose to prepare eco-themed presentations for other classes or to launch a school-wide recycling challenge. Use the article 10 Ways You Can Make a Difference to help get them started.
