California's Bad Weather

Last week, Southern California was hit hard by heavy rain. The giant storm lasted six days. The amount of rain that fell broke local records in Los Angeles.

Although the sun finally came out, the damage from the supersize storm will last a long time. The bad weather caused nine deaths. Cleaning up will be very expensive and tiring.

Mudslides on hills caused some houses to collapse. Many people were forced to leave their homes.

Others felt forced to stay indoors. Stephanie Soechtig, who lives in Santa Monica, felt trapped by the awful weather. "We've been stuck inside," she said. "I feel like I'm going crazy."
