A Powerful Adviser
![]() Last week Rice met with President Bush and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, left. |
Condoleezza Rice is a key player on President George W. Bush's team. As National Security Adviser, she helps the President make important decisions about how to deal with other countries. Rice, 46, is the first woman ever to serve in this top job.
Rice planned to study music when she began college in Colorado at the young age of 15. But the talented pianist changed her tune after hearing a professor talk about world politics. Rice wanted to make a difference in the world!
She first got her chance when she went to work in the White House for President Bush's father when he was President. No wonder she seems at ease working there now. Last week she met with leaders from China and Israel. "I trust her judgment," said President Bush when he chose her for her job. "Dr. Rice is a brilliant person."
