Rice Takes a Trip to Asia
As U.S. secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice is in charge of managing America's relationships with other countries. In her first two months on the job, Rice has visited a total of 17 countries. From March 14 to 21, she took her first official trip to Asia.
The secretary made stops in six countries. She held private meetings with top leaders in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Japan, South Korea and China. She also took time to meet with the nations' people, including election workers in Afghanistan and a sumo wrestler in Japan.
Rice ended her trip in China. She urged its leaders to better protect human rights. She also discussed ways the U.S. and China could work together to make the world a safer place.
