Getting Ready for Rita
The Gulf Coast is still trying to recover from Hurricane Katrina. That work slowed last week as another powerful storm brewed in the Gulf of Mexico. Hurricane Rita was headed for the Texas coast early Saturday.
More than 1.8 million people in Texas and Louisiana were ordered to leave their homes. This is the second time in less than a month that people have had to evacuate. Many Katrina survivors who had fled to Texas faced yet another move.
President George W. Bush promised support. "We hope and pray that Rita will not be a devastating storm, but we've got to be ready for the worst," he said.
