Focus on the Giant Squid
The giant squid has been the subject of tall tales for thousands of years. The sea creature had never been photographed alive.
Last week, scientists from Japan reported taking the first picture of a living giant squid. "This is the first time a full-grown, healthy squid has been sighted in its natural environment in deep water," said scientist Tsunemi Kubodera. The 26-foot-long squid was caught on a line. It fought for four hours to get away.
