Tickled Red

The fur was flying in toy stores around the country last week. Parents were rushing to buy the latest Tickle Me Elmo doll for their toddlers.

The furry red monster from Sesame Street was made into a toy 10 years ago. Many stores sold out of the new T.M.X. Elmo in its first few hours on the shelves.

The "X" in T.M.X. stands for extreme. T.M.X. Elmo has three tickle spots. The more you tickle him, the more he reacts. He laughs and falls to the floor. He even rolls around and then stands back up. "You really have to see it to believe it," says Neil Friedman, president of Mattel Inc., the company that makes Elmo. Kids will decide how long this craze lasts!
