Concern for Pet Owners
For the past two weeks, pet-food aisles of stores have been unusually bare. Sixty million cans and pouches of pet food have been recalled.
The Canadian manufacturer Menu Foods has removed nearly 100 dog- and cat-food brands that the company supplies to U.S. stores. The recall applies only to "cuts and gravy" style food.
"This is a troubling experience for everybody within this organization," says Menu president Paul Henderson.
Last Friday, a New York State Department of Agriculture official said that rat poison had been found in the food. They had not determined how it got there. At least 16 animals had died by March 23. Learn more at www.fda.gov/oc/opacom/hottopics/petfood.html
