Batting Tips for Future Major Leaguers

Hall of Famer Rod Carew stops by the academy often. Here, he shares some secrets of a successful swing.

1. Don't be afraid of the ball. Stand your ground at home plate.

2. Have confidence. Believe that the guy on the pitching mound can't get you out.

3. Find your swing. Don't try to copy Major League players. Develop your own batting style and not someone else's.

4. Learn to hit the ball in all directions, to different parts of the field. Don't just try to hit home runs.

5. Practice, practice, practice. The more you practice, the better you get. And the more you learn about yourself.
