Working to Rebuild
On August 29, Americans remembered the victims of Hurricane Katrina. It has been two years since the storm ripped through Louisiana and Mississippi. The powerful hurricane left most of New Orleans, Louisiana, underwater.
Last Wednesday, President George W. Bush visited the city and talked to schoolchildren. More than 1,600 people died in the disaster. A lot has improved in New Orleans since the storm hit, but many neighborhoods still need help. Only 83 of the city's 128 schools have been reopened, and many hospitals are still closed.
The federal government has promised to help New Orleans rebuild. "We will do what it takes," President Bush said last week. "This great city will rise again."
