Our Giant Footprints

Drinking a soda a day may not seem like much. But add up every can of pop you will drink in your life. Then picture the cans spread out on your lawn. The National Geographic Channel special Human Footprint shows viewers exactly what that looks like.

The show uses everyday items to illustrate how much Americans consume in a lifetime. The special also explains how something as simple as eating bread can affect the earth. "People will be surprised when they see the amounts of resources each of us will consume in our lives," says host Elizabeth Vargas.
