Ready to Make Some Noise
The cries of cicadas (suh-kay-duhs) are heard every summer. The insects spend most of their lives underground. Some groups of them only see the sun shine every 17 years! This May and June, the largest group of 17-year cicadas will pop up from New York to Georgia and as far west as Illinois. They'll make a lot of noise, but they won't harm people, pets or crops.
