Top 5 Recycling Nations
Every day the world dumps out a lot of trash. The U.S. is on the top of the heap. The average American tosses out nearly 4 1/2 pounds of garbage each day! Environmentalists say the U.S. needs to clean up its act: it recycles only about a third of its paper waste. Some nations work hard to turn their garbage into useful stuff. Here are the paper-recycling champs of the world:
1. Austria 78%
2. Spain 78%
3. Switzerland 54%
4. Netherlands 53%
5. Japan 51%
