Fantasies In Ice
What do you get when you mix snow, ice and bitter cold with a heaping shovelful of imagination? A winter celebration with sparkling sculptures and lots of frigid fun! Some of the coldest cities in the world follow this recipe every winter with great success. Canada's Winter Carnival in Quebec and Winterlude in Ottawa each attract more than 1 million visitors a year. The annual Ice Lantern Festival in Harbin, China, warmly welcomes its 1 million visitors when temperatures are as low as 20°F. The Magic Ice Madurodam, an exhibit celebrating Chinese ice art, opened last week in the city of the Hague in the Netherlands. Visitors will have to endure 15°F temperatures-indoors! What makes ice-cold attractions such as these so hot? Those cutting-edge ice sculptures, of course!
