Winner's Circle: Mina Sharpe

Mina Sharpe, 19, is a hero to Taiwan's homeless dogs. The California native moved to Taiwan at age 12. She opened the country's first no-kill animal-rescue association. So far Mina has placed almost 1,000 of these dogs into Taiwanese, U.S. and Canadian homes. "I never once thought I shouldn't be doing this because I was too young," she says.
Last month, 25 U.S. animal groups named Mina ", Humane Child of the Year." The aspiring vet won $2,000 to put toward college and her work.
