Spotlight: Tevyn Cole

Tevyn Cole, 12, is trying to educate people about the many amazing accomplishments of African Americans. "In social studies, we learned that blacks were slaves. I want to show that we have done a lot more," he told TFK.

Tevyn created a clothing line called School Me, Clothing with a Little Knowledge. He decorates his clothes with slogans and images of different great African-American achievements. His favorite shirt says "Freedom Summer '64" across the front. It celebrates the civil rights marches and campaigns that took place that summer.

Tevyn wants black kids to be confident about going into science, engineering and math. That's why his designs focus on African Americans who worked to "make their ideas come true."
