Q How would you describe Francis Ouimet to someone who hasn't heard of him?

A If you're into golf, you know about Francis Ouimet. He was truly the first American champion. He basically imported golf to America.

Q Did you know who Ouimet was before taking on the role?

A I didn't know anything about golf or the story. When I first read the script, I thought this can't be real-- so many unusual characters and twists.

Q How did you prepare for the role?

A I would golf two hours a day. It's a hard sport. You have to be so deadly accurate. It's rough, but I got through. My swing looks okay now. I'm definitely better than when I started.

Q What do you tell kids who want to pursue a career in acting?

A Whatever your dream is, just like Francis Ouimet, you have to try and, most important, believe in yourself.
