For Love of the Game
Maxime Goovaerts, 13, is the only boy on his field hockey team in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His school doesn't have a boys' field hockey team, and local school officials don't believe boys should play on girls' sports teams. They want him off the team. On October 19, Maxime's mother will take the school district to court to protect her son's right to play. For now, he can remain on the girls' team. "We play as a team, and we help each other to play well," Maxime told TFK. "I don't pay attention to gender differences."
